Our hands-on review of Gamma: what it does, what it costs and who it’s right for.

Try Gamma

Gamma Free is $0. Plus, Pro, and Ultra carry prices on gamma.app/pricing that change by country. The dollars in the table are approximate. They were converted from the INR prices shown on that page in India, checked 3 November 2026. They are not Gamma’s official USD prices. Last updated 3 November 2026.

Pricing

Prices checked on 3 November 2026. Credit amounts come from Gamma’s help center. The dollar columns are a conversion of the India pricing view, at about ₹84 per $1. “Most popular” is the label on that view, not a Yabku ranking.

Approximate USD, converted from the INR prices shown on gamma.app/pricing in India at about ₹84 per $1, checked 3 November 2026. Gamma sets prices by region, so checkout prices may differ.

The help article read the same day still says annual billing is a 28% discount, with the same monthly credit amount issued each month, and that Ultra was monthly only at an introductory price. The converted India amounts are about twelve times the monthly figure. This page does not treat that 28% line and this table as one confirmed offer. Trust the price Gamma shows at your checkout.

Billing is per user, and the article says per workspace member. Two people on Pro are two subscriptions. Adding a third person bills a third. An upgrade in the middle of a cycle is prorated for the days left, and it applies to each seat. A downgrade waits until the cycle ends.

How credits work

Gamma’s help text says credits measure AI use. Generating a deck, an image, or an edit with the agent spends credits on every plan, including Free. The cost of one action depends on the model and on how long or complex the generation is. There is no single “one slide equals one credit” rate in the article that was read. Anyone who quotes one is adding a number the help center did not.

Free credits behave differently from paid credits

On Free, credits do not refresh. You start with 400. They do not expire. A referral is worth 200 credits, and a free account can hold up to 2,000 at once. After you spend some, you can earn more. The article says there is no cap on how much you can earn over time, only on how many you can hold at once.

If you cancel a paid plan, you keep that plan until the period ends. Then the account falls back to Free and the plan credits reset at 400. Credits you bought on top, one-off or on a recharge, stay for one year after cancellation. Those bought credits are not the same pile as the monthly plan credits.

Rollover

Paid credits roll over up to twice the plan size. Plus is the example in the article: 1,500 a month can sit at 3,000. Annual Plus works the same way. You do not receive 12 months of credits on day one. You receive the monthly amount each month, and the rollover cap is still twice that month’s amount. Pro at 4,000 can sit at 8,000 on the same rule. Ultra at 20,000 can sit at 40,000. The article states the rule with the Plus numbers and says annual credits are issued monthly. The doubled caps for Pro and Ultra are the same rule applied to the published monthly amounts. They are arithmetic, not a second price.

Getting more

Paid subscribers can buy extra credits or turn on auto-recharge under Settings and members, then Billing. The article does not print the price of a top-up. Promo codes work only on the first upgrade from Free. They do not work if you are already on a paid plan and you move from Plus to Pro.

Is Gamma free?

Yes. Free is $0. There is no traditional free trial. A new account starts on Free, with no time limit and no card, and with 400 credits. Those 400 do not refresh. When they are gone, Free continues, and further AI use depends on referrals or on upgrading. Plus, Pro, and Ultra are paid plans. On the India conversion checked 3 November 2026 they are about $4.80, $11.30, and $93 a month. Those are approximate dollars, not Gamma’s official USD prices.

Free is not the same as Plus with the badge left on. Free caps a prompt at 10 slides, uses basic image models, and allows 50,000 input tokens. Plus moves those limits to 100 slides, advanced models, and 100,000 tokens, and it removes the “Made with Gamma” badge. If the badge on a shared deck is a problem, Free is not the plan, even though the account costs nothing.

Canceling does not delete the account. It returns you to Free and sets plan credits back to 400. That is the help center’s own sentence. It is also why “Gamma is free” and “I will keep my Pro credits” cannot both be true after the cycle ends.

Features

The feature split that is worth paying for, once you can see a price, is branding, models, domains, and the API. Not the existence of an AI deck. Free already generates.

What you can do before you pay

Create with AI, use the agent, and use basic image models. Ten slides from one prompt, then more added by hand. Fifty thousand input tokens on that first generation. No card. That is a real product, not a teaser screen. It is also a credit balance that shrinks and does not refill.

What the paid plans are actually selling

Plus sells the badge removal and the higher limits. Pro sells the API, analytics, password protection, headers and footers, premium models, and 10 custom domains. Ultra sells the largest credit pool, the ultra image models, 100 domains, and early access. The help article called Ultra monthly only. The India pricing view used for the table also showed an annual figure. Business is a different conversation. The upgrade article does not price it and does not list its credits, so the table says price not shown.

[HANDS-ON: generate one short deck on a free account and note the credit count before and after. Do not publish a credit-per-slide rate you did not see.]

Who it's for

Gamma fits someone who wants a deck or a short site from a prompt and can live with a credit meter. Free fits a test and the occasional deck, as long as 400 non-refreshing credits are enough. Plus fits a person who will share decks and does not want the badge. Pro fits a team that will use the API or a custom domain. Ultra fits someone who will burn 20,000 credits a month and accepts a monthly bill.

It is a poor fit if you need Gamma’s official USD list price. The dollars here are a conversion of one India view. Checkout in another country can differ. It is a poor fit if you wanted a voice, a logo file, or a sales CRM. Those are different products, linked below.

Alternatives

These are other AI tools reviewed here. They are not slide builders, and they are not a “best AI presentation” list.

  • ElevenLabs if you need a voice. The free plan is 10,000 credits a month, and Starter is $6, checked the same day.
  • Castmagic if you already have a recording and you want show notes and clips.
  • Logo AI if the job is a logo, not a deck.
  • HoppyCopy if the job is marketing copy.
  • Coupons for other offers that had a visible price or trial. Gamma has no code on that list.

Verdict

Use Free if $0, 400 credits, and a badge are acceptable. Plus is about $4.80 a month on this India conversion, Pro about $11.30, and Ultra about $93. Read those as approximate dollars, not as Gamma’s official USD prices. Business showed no price. Confirm the figure Gamma shows in your own region before you pay.

The downside is the region gap. A conversion from one country is not the bill in another. The help article’s 28% annual line and the India yearly totals do not line up on this page, so neither one is treated as the final discount.
